Non-Profit
Dichter’s research techniques were occasionally employed by charitable and non-profit institutions, and reports within this theme include commissions from the National Wildlife Federation, YMCA (Proposal for a motivational research study aimed at building wider support for the national membership enrolment plan of the YMCA) and American Baptist Convention. Largely concerned with recruitment and fundraising, these reports illustrate how such institutions used psychological motivational techniques to improve their products, finances and corporate structure.
A number of documents reflect Dichter’s own Jewish heritage, such as reports commissioned by the American Fund for Israel Institutions and the The Jewish Agency. The latter form part of an interesting cluster of documents which explore the promotion of supported Aliyah, the immigration of Jewish people to Israel (see A motivational research study of migration to Israel and Aliyah communications, vol. I).
